New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead, a two-time Pro Bowler, will miss the Week 12 matchup against the Denver Broncos after testing positive for COVID-19.
Armstead tweeted the news Saturday, writing: “Found out this morning that I tested positive for Covid! I feel completely normal and ready to go play with my guys tomorrow. Unfortunately that can’t happen and while that (expletive) sucks, I can’t downplay the impact covid has had on so many lives. Everyone stay safe #WhoDat”
New Orleans is slated to fly to play at Denver on Sunday. According to The Athletic, several players are currently in contact-tracing protocol.
Quarterback Taysom Hill will start again Sunday as Drew Brees remains out and on the injured reserve due to fractures to his ribs.
The Saints are also without starting left guard Andrus Peat, who dealing with a concussion. Veteran backups James Hurst and Nick Easton are the most likely replacements at left tackle and left guard.
Armstead’s COVID-19 diagnosis is the second for the team this regular season after wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders tested positive in October.
Report: Steelers’ James Conner, assistant coach test positive for coronavirus
Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is among the players to test positive for coronavirus Saturday after three players were placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list the day before, according to an ESPN report.
The Steelers are awaiting the results of a rerun test for Conner, who could be out for at least 10 days according to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol. The team will also conduct contact tracing to ascertain Conner’s contacts.
Defensive end Stephon Tuitt, defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs and offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins were put on the reserve list Friday.
According to the ESPN report, a Steelers coach has also tested positive, atlhough the name was not revealed. That could amplify the numbers of players that go on the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Tuesday’s rescheduled game vs. the Ravens.
Ravens’ list grows to 18 players out
According to The Athletic, the Ravens placed six more players on the Reserve/COVID list on Saturday. Those players include: D.J. Fluker, Jaylon Ferguson, Will Holden, Broderick Washington, Khalil Dorsey (IR), Tavon Young (IR).
According to the Ravens, the timeline for players out this looks as follows:
- Monday: RB Mark Ingram II, RB J.K. Dobbins, DT Brandon Williams
- Tuesday: LB Pernell McPhee
- Wednesday: DE Calais Campbell, G/C Patrick Mekari, G/C Matt Skura
- Thursday: DE Jihad Ward
- Friday: QB Lamar Jackson, FB Patrick Ricard, DT Justin Madubuike, LS Morgan Cox
- Saturday: OLBJaylon Ferguson,G/T D.J. Fluker, G/T Will Holden, DT Broderick Washington, CB Tavon Young, CB Khalil Dorsey
